6 Incredible Tips For SEO That You Do Not Know

No matter where I am on the internet, I see something or another about the next great search engine optimization information or company. I truly believe that over 9 out of 10 web sites offering information are nothing but copied garbage.

Truth be told that your web site is useless without search engine optimized web pages. For instance, if the search engines do not like your site they will not show your site in the results sections of their query. This is known as on-page factors for your web site.

An even more important trick used for seo is known as the off-page factors. Search engines now are judging your web site importance by seeing how many web sites are pointing to your web site. This is known as backlinking.

This is fine and dandy to find web sites to link to you, but you are missing the boat if you just have everyone link to you. Below I will pin point out 6 crucial tips of backlinking value and how to find best web sites to have linking to you.

First we will want to do a search for a site that we wish to copy that is doing well in the search engines.

Go to google.com and perform a search for your desired topic you wish to copy. Find the web site in the 1st or 2nd spot and copy the name into the search bar. This time use yahoo.com and type in "link: domain name.com". Yahoo seems to provide more backlinks that the other big two search engines google and MSN who only report some of the backlinks.

Here are the 6 tips for you to use:

TIP 1: Value the page title of the web site linking to you.

This is most important.

If the title of the web page you have your link on has one or more of the key words in your web site you are given much more weight. You will want to look closely into your progressive link partners to see the title of the page your link will be on with them.

This is done pretty easy buy looking at the results you would get from the above instructions. Those are the page titles that are displayed in blue from the results.

TIP 2: The importance of how many outbound links are on the web site that is linking to you

A web page can only have so much importance or page rank to it. The more outbound links that are on the web page the less your link to your web site will count. So if your web page is the only outgoing link on the web page, it is going to hold much more importance than a site that has many outgoing links on it.

A safe suggestion would be to place your link on a web page with no more than 40 links per page. Much more than that and the link to your site will be devalued.

This type of work will require a great amount of time to do however. You will have to physically visit that web page and count the # of outgoing links on it.

TIP 3: Value the content of the page that is linking to you

Your best bet would be to try and get a link on web page that is filled with content. Opposed to a web page filled with links only.

There are 2 reasons for this.

The first is that there will be a minimal amount of outgoing links on the web page.

The second is that the content page will be rated better as it will contain keywords in the content.

You will also be found much easier as you will one of the only links on the page. A good way of checking into this would be to see what web site your visitors are coming from if you are getting quite a few visitors from that site. I am willing to bet there are not many links on the web page that has your link on it.

TIP 4: Look into the type of links linking to the web page your link is on

Basically the more site owners of web pages linking to you that have off-page optimization the more weight that will be held on your link.

Trying to figure this out is near impossible. Your best bet would be to have a few people dedicated to this search or to build an automated process to send this information to you. Finding the off-page optimization for each site linking to you will take more time than you will have. I guarantee this.

TIP 5: Locate the IP addresses of all web pages linking to you

In the search engine eyes, links that come to you from the same IP address are not valued with much importance. This is an important thing to know. This is in place to keep web masters from pointing every web site they own to each other.

Now, it is not a bad to have a link or two with the same IP but it is more important to have most of your links coming from different IP addresses.

To locate an IP of a web page pointing to you, you may use this tool:

www.webrankinfo.com/english/tools/class-c-checker.php

Here you can enter from 2 to 10 links to check their IP address. Keep in mind that this process is extremely tedious once you get into checking a few hundred or thousand web pages to check..

Tip 6: How important does google value web site that is linking to you

This tip is one that most everyone does not even know about. Authority Web Sites are seen as most import by the search engines. Web pages that contain a gov at the end of their domain name are considered to be an authority web site.

There are a few other sites such as microsoft.com and adobe.com that have reached this status as well. You will find that most authority sites contain a ton of content and information.

If you are able to obtain a link from this type of site, it will have a huge impact on how your web page is considered. Any site containing a page rank of 7 and up would be assumed an authority site.

This brings us to a question? Is this time consuming process worth it?

The answer is simple. Yes. You will be much impress by taking the time needed to find targeted backlinks from web pages with great off-page optimization.

If you are looking for and automated solution to save all your time and provide even more useful help, there is a product you will find in the author box that will do all of this for you.

This program will find all of the above information in minutes and offers other strategies to promote your web site.

From here I would use the other tools in the program to quicken the time it takes to implement a link building process.

8 Top SEO Tips for Webmasters

There is a lot of advice available for web developers... some free, and some very expensive! How do you know what works? If anyone tells you they can guarantee to get your website in the top ten of search engine results, be careful - that is a downright lie, unless it is in the sponsored results which you pay to advertise in! No-one can guarantee results in the natural search engine listings, as I found out after shelling out £600 on my credit card. Fortunately, I managed to claim the total amount back with the help of my credit card company. If you are prepared to spend the time and effort to optimise your own website, you can get it right up there on MSN, Google and other top search engines. You will need a little patience... it can take up to 2 months for changes in your website to be recognised by search engines. You do not need pay to promote your website. Your running costs can be kept low with budget web hosting, and doing your own SEO work. Here are 8 of my top tips to help you on your way!

1. Website page title - this will be the heading found in search engine results. Make it a descriptive sentence which includes your main keywords. Limit the title to 80 characters (including spaces) to be "robot friendly".

2. Page description - this will be the descriptive text found in search engine results, so make it attractive to potential clients, and include 2 or 3 main keywords. The recommended maximum is 200 characters (including spaces).

3. Keywords - use words relevant to the website page, imagine which words customers would search for and use those. 20 keywords is the recommended maximum.

4. A quick way to check the number of characters is to copy and paste into a word processing package such as Microsoft Word - highlight the text, click on "Tools", the "Word Count" for results.

5. Search engines check for consistency between site tile/description tags and the actual page content. So use keywords in the descriptive text which match those in the Title and Description tags.

6. Domain name: if the name of your website contains one or more of your main keywords, this can help improve search engine results. You may wish to choose a name that customers can easily remember, so they can find you easily on the internet, and recommend you to their friends!

7. Alt tags - add a description to images and include main keywords.

8. Research your competitors ... do a search for your keywords, and see which companies are listed on the first page of results. If there are a high number of results listed, you may wish to consider using different keyword phrases, so that you target a more niche market with fewer results.

SEO Tips For The Beginner

If you're new to making a living on the Internet, you've problem heard a lot of talk about SEO, or search engine optimization. A lot of what you've heard may sound confusing or overwhelming. Well, while this article in no way can possibly cover the entire sphere of SEO, it is the hopes of this author that it will at least give you a starting point so that this maze of information isn't so totally out in another solar system. With a little bit of reading and maybe some luck, you'll come away from this article with a clear head a little knowledge.

The first step in this process is that you have to understand that there is on page SEO and off page SEO. I'm going to give you examples of each so don't worry. The point is, in order for SEO to be effective you must use both on page and off page methods. Leaving either one of them out can spell disaster in a big way.

Let's start with on page SEO. On page SEO is where you actually add certain things to your web page in order to placate the search engines. One of these things is meta tags. Meta tags are pieces of HTML code that tell the search engines something about your page, such as the title, description and what keywords you're targeting. This is very important to do in order to naturally get your pages up the ranks of the search engines.

Off page SEO is more related to things you do outside of your web page to also get that page up the search engine ranks. One of these is article marketing. This is the practice of submitting articles to directories while utilizing the resource box of your articles to include the link to your web page. The more links that are out there, the higher up the search engines you'll go. This isn't an overnight process and it does take a lot of work, but over time, with enough inbound links to your web page, you'll see an improvement in your search engine standings.

The interesting thing is that there are really more things you can do with off page SEO than on page. There are only so many things you can do with a web page, such as adding meta tags and adding content to your site, which is always something search engines want to see. But with off page, the list of things to do is almost endless. Aside from article marketing there's link exchanges, blogging, social bookmarking sites and the list goes on and on.

If you are going to optimize your site for the search engines, you are going to have to use a combination of SEO on page and off page strategies and use them often. Optimizing your site is an ongoing process that never ends.

Hey, if it was easy, we'd all be making a fortune on the Internet.

5 Helpful SEO Tips

SEO. Search Engine Optimization.

Sure. You've heard or read these words before. After all, it is a big buzzword around the Web these days. Or maybe you haven't.

If you haven't and you publish a promotional Web site, read on. If you've heard the terms "SEO" and "Search Engine Optimization" and are still a little unclear, read on.

SEO: What Is It?

Anyone who publishes a Web site and would like it to be found should be concerned with SEO and optimizing their site. OK, here's the answer to the big question of "What it it?"

Search Engine Optimization is a way of making your Web site more "friendly" to the major search engines of the Internet. Yes, we're talking Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. These engines (and others) periodically spider all Web sites. That is, they send a "crawler" out to analyze the content of each Web site. Page titles, meta tags, tabs, copy, and pictures all play in to how sites are indexed.

Then, when somebody searches for something (the words they use are called "keywords"), the most relevant sites to those keywords, as deemed by the spiders, are the first to appear. One thing to know is, search engines periodically change the way the rank relevancy. As people understand how to get higher rankings, many resort to underhanded tactics. Hence, the engines change their algorithms to throw off people doing things to artificially raise their rank.

Paid Placement vs. Organic Search Results

Know the difference between paid placement and organic search results. Paid placement results are highlighted links at the top of the page, usually in a blue field. Google AdWords that populate your left navigation column or certain fields within a page are also examples of paid placement.

Organic search results are what naturally appear on the page after the engine runs a search. The closer you are to the top on Page 1, they better your site is optimized. A site with good SEO, compared to its competition, is at a distinct advantage.

5 SEO Tips

Even though search engines change analytics from time to time, here are some tips that you can pretty much count on to help you.

  • Put you most important search term, or terms, in your domain

  • The engines have always put the domain name as the top trigger for search relevancy. No matter how you slice it, if what people are searching for is in your domain, the engines will rank you higher than those that don't.

  • Put other important search terms in your tabs

  • The second most important thing engines look for are tab titles. Use other search terms in your tabs. You may even have to repeat your main search term. Think about your inventory or what you offer. Break up the content to include as many relevant terms as you can.

  • Add relevant informational articles to your site

  • Informational articles are a great way to add keywords and boost the relevancy of your site. You're reading one right now. Do, however, make sure the keyword density is around 4-7% of the total content for each distinct phrase or keyword. These days, anyone can easily pick out content obviously written to add keywords. No one wants to read stilted, redundant copy like, "You'll find all the semi-sweet chocolate you need for all your semi-sweet chocolate recipes to make semi-sweet chocolate desserts."

  • Resist ANY temptation to use artificial means (Black hat tactics) to boost rank

  • Some sites will try to hide text, create false pages or redirects, or use cloaking to raise rank. This is often referred to as a Black Hat tactic. Don't do it. The search engines will eventually figure you out, and your site could disappear from results until the problem is fixed, or could get banned entirely.

  • Keep Flash animations and sound to a minimum

  • At this point, pretty much everyone knows to not use frames in your design (Remember 1996?). Now the truth about Flash is coming out, too. While Flash presentations look cool during concepting, they don't help you get found. Music and sound effects don't help much either, and it's annoying to hear a "bling" or "whoosh" any time a link is moused over. Just stick to the facts, people, and we'll get along fine.
